Our home was one of the affected homes having a bad joist that was emitting too much formaldehyde. Cal Atlantic pushed our closing out which displaced our family and offered no form of compensation.

When escalating this to CA management pleading my case to give us at least something for our troubles they put us in, they said it was not necessary. Communication with them is also horrible requiring multiple follow ups to get any sort of response. My wife and I spent a ton of time trying to work through their process and it was not smooth to say the least. Their mortgage process has you jerked around again requiring multiple communications to get documents you need to submit if you finance through them.

Very spotty follow through and urgent requests for documents when you were told you are โ€œall caught upโ€ just the day before.

Basically, had I known how much CA really only cares about making money rather than having happy customers I would have gone elsewhere. They are worth avoiding for sure...

Reason of review: Problems with payment.

I'm confused about this review as I am in the same situation. WH has offered (and paid) us compensation for housing, storage and a daily stipend. Were you unaware of that situation?

There was so much communication to us regarding this - I am surprised you didn't get that message.

Weyerhaueser - the manufacturer of the joists in question offered to cover temporary housing payments, cost of storage, and a daily stipend of $100 per adult and $50 per child, plus an extra $40 for incidentals from the time you were supposed to close until the time you actually close on your new home.

What else could you possibly want?

If you decided to not contact the customer service line that was provided in the letter, well that is on you. Sounds like you wanted CA to give you something on top of the ridiculous amount of money that the manufacturwer was already offering you.
